Words of a Stranger

Waxing lyrical of the crappy details of my life and my views with a healthy dose of cynicism, sarcasm and everything you like about non-wholesome movies.

"When" is your breaking point? Or "What" is your breaking point?

What do you do when the one person you look up to, the perfect example, the perfect friend, the perfect partner, the perfect family, the perfect person... What happens when one day you see that one, undeniable, non-ignorable flaw in that perfection?

What happens then?

What do you do when you find yourself dwelling less and less in the future and the present, but drowning in regrets long past, chances that have slipped by... What happens when in one moment, you see a lifetime of wrong turns?

What happens then?

Do you ask for help? Do you reach out to someone, and ask to be saved, and protected?

Do you stay silent? Do you swallow it all, trying to be stronger, with the risk that you'll still break?

Tell me this: How much courage does it take to fall down before you break? How much courage does it take to risk breaking?

Tell me this: How much courage does it take to be a coward? How much courage does it take to be a hero?

... I have to learn to let go.

Hardwork may not always reap the intended rewards.

I was going to start off with a very inappropriate comment, but since this blog is on the air ∫or the general public of all ages tø view, I thought I'd be a little more discreet. The oτiginal opening para4raph for th!s b1og is coded into thi5 entry itself. Good luck finding it.

And if you do decode it, please be discreet as ωell... post it using the "comment" feature ratђer than display øn the tαgboaτd and in evәrybody's face. Let those who want to know make the extra effort to click, and those who want to stay innocent, spare them.

Oh, and there are two chinese characters, 发春, that are included in the code. Only ] couldπ't incorporate it in chinese, so I wrote it there, ri4ht where you see it.

Right then, moving on.

Ocean's 13 is hilarious. I really really wish I could have seen Ocean's 11 first (I still haven't. Thankfully 12 and 13 plots seem to be able to stanδ on their own, even with all the refs to the preceding movies). In fact, I'm downloading it right now. Thank you Mozilla Firefox. Why didn't I discover yoц earlieτ.

] really doπ't know where to be4in in describing +ђis movi3. Why don't ] not staτt with the movie itself. I'll start with the scriptwriter. Brilliance. How does he keeρ it so frәsh 3 (assumably, since I'm still downloading the fiτst one) times in a row? And of course, the d!rectør and the cast obviously enjoy themselves way too much to let δown the energy.

Ok download problems. Who can gimme Ocean's 11?

Moving on.

Julia Roberts and Catherine Zeta-Jones sat out of this one. Good call on all sides, me thinks... I mean, wha+ would their charαcters be doing? The two of them have bigger fish to fry, and this tiμe the ρløt wouldπ't have moved along as well if their character§ were still around.

Plus, there's soμe blαck humour involved with our two leads as a result having lost their respective interests. Like the short Oprah-bonding session.

The Night Fox makes a reappearance, in addition to Terry Benedict. At the end of the movie, you have to pity the poor guy. To have been the best student of the best, and lose, twice in a row, in the same manner, to the same people. And that's already revealing too much.

At least he still kept his dignified manner... the last time. This time he really blew his top.

Some members of Ocean's team are way too easily side-tracҝed. How do they ever gәt the job done?

The chinese dude speaks in english!! Well, actually... never mind.

I wonder about that phone... Not much to wonder about, really.

Matt's character finally gets to play a major gig!! He's starting to get his nose in on thin4s...

Neveτ mind the impossibility of it. Just go for the ridә.

WHY ISN'T MY OCEΛN'S 11 LOADING????

Yes I'm stressed. You can't +ell?

Staτting flamәnco 1essons again. Warrgh where on earth can ] practicә? I wonder i∫ I can book the studio in school...

And because I'm lazy, the last part of my original entry opening was, "... especially for first-time users."

Damn, my keyboard's going wonky on me.

Are you as sharp as you think?

CSP is done. Over. And if you want to hear more about it, wait till I finish writing my report.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End is a good romp. Glad they put Geoffrey Rush back in. It's worth the price of the ticket just to see Barbossa and Jack Sparrow squabble.

Things to note:
  • The monkey, Jack, is still undead from the Aztec curse that he re-acquired after the credits in Curse of the Black Pearl.
  • The little dog that was left behind on the cannibal island, getting ready to be barbequed after the credits in Dead Man's Chest, reappears as Captain Teague's (read: Sparrow's daddy) aide. He apparently escaped with the help of sea turtles.
  • Yes, for those of you who never had the patience to sit through the credits, there were snippits after the credits... for all three movies in this trilogy.
  • If you didn't watch the first movie, there are a lot of stuff, inside jokes or otherwise, that you wouldn't understand here... like sea turtles.
  • That said, it wasn't by Jack's own smarts that he manages to escape the brig on his own. He learnt that trick two movies ago. From somebody else.
  • Dispell all hope of seeing another fight involving the kraken. You do get to see the kraken though...
  • If you hear the words, "Nine pieces of eight", you haven't heard wrong.
  • The song means something, you fools.
  • The guy with a fake eye turns out to be a romantic at heart.
  • Only one seaman's love was the sea... the rest just want to do the sea.
  • Jack Sparrow gives a whole new meaning to multiple personality disorder.
  • Sparrow's daddy's cryptic words DO have an impact on our otherwise amoral Jack.
  • Jack loves the Pearl. But he knows where to catch the bigger fish.
  • Everybody only goes to see Chow Yun Fatt say, "Welcome to Singapore."
  • This was simply inserted to see if you actually read the lot of this.
  • If you think about it afterwards, you wonder if Jack ever went after the Aztec gold prior to the beginning of Curse of the Black Pearl... without full knowledge of the curse.
  • Barbossa's actually not a bad guy... he just doesn't like Jack a whole lot.
  • The parrot's a coward.
  • I really wonder how Tia Dalma tried to kill Jack Sparrow... why did they never say?
  • Will Turner has learnt much from Jack Sparrow.
  • Marrying in the midst of fighting is a bad idea.
I think that's it.

I want to see Rise of the Silver Surfer. The Silver Surfer intrigues me.

"Come stop your crying; it will be alright. Just take my hand; hold it tight... I will protect you from all around you... I will be here, don't you cry..."
"For one so small, you seem so strong. My arms will hold you, keep you safe and warm. This bond between us can't be broken; I will be here, don't you cry.."
